Princess Anne has always been by her mother, the Queen's side. She is now speaking about her final moments with Queen Elizabeth II in a new documentary. “I think there was a moment during those days when I felt it would be more difficult if she died at Balmoral,” Princess Anne nods in the documentary about Charles' first year as king. “Then we tried to convince her that she should do what she feels good about.” Many thought it was appropriate that the Queen died at Balmoral, rather than at Buckingham Palace. The Queen has loved the Scottish Highlands all her life.
In a moving segment, Anne then talks about her mother's funeral. She felt “relief” when the Imperial State Crown was taken from the Queen for the final time. “It was a strange feeling, kind of a relief. It's been done and that responsibility has now been passed on.”
Finally, Anne also wants to support her brother, King Charles, and her sister-in-law, Queen Camilla. She concluded that although it was difficult to prepare for the throne, they were “doing an excellent job.”
