You can now fill up your renewable diesel at the Q8 fuel station in Brusselsesteenweg in Mechelen. The fuel is manufactured by the Finnish company Neste and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 90%. The station in Mechelen is one of the first to have diesel available.

The multinational Q8 wants to become more sustainable, and therefore is now also offering a so-called HVO100 product for passenger cars. Concretely, this concerns diesels made from 100% renewable raw materials. To this end, the gas station chain is entering into a partnership with the Finnish company Neste, the world’s largest producer of renewable diesel and sustainable jet fuel.

“Renewable diesel can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%,” says Peter Sonnefeld of Neste. But there is no need to make modifications to existing vehicles or gas stations. The fuel is fully compatible with current diesel engines. Together with users, we at Neste want to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20 million tons per year by 2030.”

The Q8 filling station in Brusselsesteenweg in Mechelen is one of the first places where fuel is available. It is also on sale at gas stations in Zaventem and Rottselaer. A few more stations will be added in the coming weeks. And our ambitions do not stop here. “If this more sustainable offering is successful, we will expand implementation in our network,” said Q8’s Sven Deutsches. (svds)
