For the second time in as many days, New Zealand's national hockey women won the Pro League. This time not with flashy figures, but with a good performance. Belgium won 2-1 at Willijk.
Last weekend the Red Panthers defeated New Zealand (7-0). That seemed to change now.
Belgium scored in the first minute. Stephanie Vanden Borre scores a penalty corner halfway through: 1-0.
The Red Panthers dominated. Early in the second quarter, Emily White added to the score. The youngster from Waterloo is impressing in her first year with the first team.
That 2-0 score stayed on the scoreboard for a long time. It wasn't 7-0 and Tayla White scored for New Zealand in the closing stages. He hit a long ball into the Belgium goal.
2-1, that's it this time.
Objectives:
- 1' Vanden Borre (sc)
- 15' e. White is 2-0
- 56' d. White 2-1
Belgian hockey women can now take a breather before finishing the last part of the year in the Hockey Pro League.
On July 1st the Dutch will visit Antwerp. Not at Meir or Groenplats, but at Wilrijkse Pleinen.
