Several job postings have revealed that Sonos is developing an operating system for TVs. The audio manufacturer is actually looking for several employees who will contribute to the so-called Home Theater OS.
According to the website, the new platform product manager will develop a roadmap for the operating system and media platform, while the UX Lead will work with a variety of devices — including mobile devices, televisions, and a ‘HW remote control’ — to deliver a new experience in the content delivery area. The Head of Partnerships must then connect users with “the content and services they love, with the quality they expect from Sonos.”
The Sonos Arc White is currently the brand’s most popular soundbar.
Protocol asked Sonos for more information, but did not receive a response. In a statement to The Verge, the company said it wanted to “continue to innovate and create products and experiences that make listening easier and more enjoyable.” However, no specific details were provided.
