The city of Bruges hosts the Public Space Conference 2025

Bruges will serve as the host city for the popular Public Space Conference in 2025. The event, which focuses on the development and management of public spaces, will be held on May 20 at the Bruges Convention and Convention Center (BMCC).

The Public Space Conference is an important annual event that brings together experts to exchange knowledge and experiences on the design of public spaces. During the last edition of the conference in Antwerp, the key was officially presented to city councilor Menno Esquint, welcoming Bruges as the next host city.

Platform for expertise

Alderman Esquint stressed the importance of this event for Bruges: “As a city, we are proud to host this event. We are convinced that on that day we can exchange valuable knowledge and experience with specialists from Flanders and Brussels.

After three successful editions in Antwerp and previous conferences in cities such as Brussels, Mechelen and Ghent, the event now returns to Bruges. The twelfth edition promises a diverse program that includes keynote lectures, thematic sessions, panel discussions and workshops all around the sustainable use of space.

City trips and innovation

Mayor Dirk De Fauw explains that excursions in the city are also included in the programme. “Participants will learn about the most prominent achievements and innovative projects in our city. In this way, they immerse themselves in a city where public spaces, sustainable mobility, green spaces and history go hand in hand.

The conference provides a unique opportunity to learn directly from practice and gain new ideas that can contribute to the development of public spaces in other cities and municipalities.
