The Dutch journalist’s house was pelted with a Molotov cocktail…

Another attack took place on a journalist in the Netherlands. On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, Molotov cocktails were thrown at the home of the editor-in-chief of the news site. Secom. Groningen Willem Groeneveld and his girlfriend managed to put out the fire and he was unharmed. The motive behind the attack is still unknown. Groeneveld is a city blogger who exposes the misbehavior of landlords. The attack may have something to do with this file.

This is not the first time that Grunfeld has fallen victim to an attack. In 2019, his windows were smashed after an angry businessman put the journalist’s address online after a series of critical articles.

Thomas Bruning, the secretary-general of the Dutch Journalists’ Union, called the incident “another attack on the Dutch press,” referring to the attempted assassination of criminal journalist Peter de Vries. “It is vital that Willem now feel protected and that the police do everything they can to quickly track down and prosecute cowardly perpetrators. It should be clear that this is not allowed in the Netherlands.”
