The lines in Schiphol are “much better” on Sunday morning than on Saturday when travelers had to queue for hours. According to a Schiphol spokesperson, all queues are currently indoors and the roof is not used outside.
Schiphol is particularly busy on Sundays with the arrival of passengers. According to a spokesperson, this is about 65,000 travelers who return from other places and do not have to go through security. The number of departing passengers is approximately 55,000 passengers. In total, Schiphol handled 180,000 passengers on Sunday. Passengers carried are counted as arriving and departing passengers. In total, there will be 1,267 flights on Sunday.
On Saturday, for various reasons, there were fewer security guards at work than planned. Queues rose to more than two and a half hours. There have been many angry reactions on social media. Schiphol acknowledges that security remains a “challenge”.
