A day after Tim Merlier’s quick victory, the gyro had to do some climbing for the first time. In the Technical Final match, there were four medium-difficulty rises – Journey by Peter Sagan. The Slovak put his team to work in pursuit of a groundbreaking group of eight, including mountain jersey Vincenzo Albanese and Spring Chicken Andrei Ponomar. The crowd was still very close, but with the monster’s resistance, Van der Hoen concluded the penalty number correctly. Cimolai sprinted to second place in his heels, ahead of Peter Sagan. Filippo Ganna – just like Remco Evenepoel – has had no problems and will also start pink tomorrow too.
