Another award for Victor Campenaerts. After his great victory in the Tour, our compatriot now also won the post-Tour criterium in Aalst. This is traditionally the first post-Tour criterium in our country. Jasper Philipsen and the green jersey of Benyam Girmay completed the podium a few seconds later.
In the round, Victor Campenaerts still had to finish the job in a sprint with 3, today’s strongman from Lotto – Destiny Just cross the line.
However, Campenaerts started without a voice, after a “rather intense gig” in France. But Vocsnor still had enough juice in his legs even after a tough tour and a tough evening.
The delay of the plane that was supposed to take the riders to Belgium – which caused the start of the criterium to be somewhat delayed – did not deter him either. Campenaerts accelerated two laps from the finish and took a small bonus for a group of clean people.
A few seconds after Campenaerts’ initial scream, Jasper Philipsen and Benjamin Girmay battled for second place. Philipsen beat the Eritrean, who was allowed to show his green jersey to the crowd again. Oliver Naesen Race to fourth place, ahead! Cedric Bullens.
Lots of atmosphere and tradition in the late Aalst Tour standard:
Cheerful riders before the start, but one is silent:
