Chelsea narrowly avoided losing points against Crystal Palace. Romelu Lukaku was invisible – certainly in the first half, but the visitors can count on Hakim Ziyech to break the spell in the final stage.
Romelu Lukaku netted Chelsea again in the Club World Cup final, but the Red Devils couldn’t continue it against Crystal Palace.
The stats were: in the first half the striker barely touched the ball twice, and that included the kick-off. Christian Pulisic came close to scoring but did not finish it.
Chelsea and Lukaku also failed in the second half. Fifteen minutes before the end, Lukaku seemed to break the spell: Ziyech parried a Red Devil shot on the counter, but the VAR offside.
Point loss was imminent, but Ziyech was not convinced that his goal had been turned down. At the last stage, he could still celebrate with a volley. Chelsea remain 7 points behind Liverpool, ranked 2.
