Will Microsoft Copilot get a name change soon?

Will we soon be talking about Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot in Word and Business Chat? According to anonymous sources, Microsoft is making name changes.

Microsoft is reportedly making some rebranding changes for its enterprise customers. According to anonymous sources, the current name “Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365” will be changed to just “Microsoft 365 Copilot,” according to Tom Warren of The EdgeMicrosoft’s individual productivity apps aren’t being left out either, as is the case with the Microsoft 365 Copilot chatbot, which will be called “Business Chat.” The name changes are said to be rolling out in September, in conjunction with new Microsoft 365 Copilot features.

Change name

Microsoft has a tendency to make up complex names for its products, then boil them down to a shortened form. That’s been the case in the past, but now it seems the tech giant wants to do the same with Co-Pilot. Tom Warren at The Verge knows from anonymous sources that some name changes are on the table.

“Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365” will be shortened to “Microsoft 365 Copilot.” Additionally, individual Microsoft productivity apps that use Copilot will also undergo a name change. Things are getting a little more complicated: Warren says “Copilot in Word” will become “Microsoft 365 Copilot in Word.” For business users working with the Microsoft 365 Copilot chatbot, you’ll soon be talking about “Business Chat.”
