Owners of many Xiaomi phones complain that their devices have recently started making a rattling sound through the speaker. The issue seems to mainly affect Redmi models, but owners of other models have had similar complaints.
In a forum thread about Tweakers, several users said they were bothered by a rattling sound. The cause of the problem is not yet clear. Tweaker feli suspects that the cause is an “update error” in the software and it may have something to do with the camera. After Felli switched the video mode resolution of the default Miui Camera app from 1080/30fps to 4k/30fps, the sound stopped. After the sound returned, the modulator applied the same method again and the rattling stopped again.
Other users, including ChelseaJack, believe this is a Cleaner app. A number of respondents say they have already contacted Xiaomi, which says the issue is known there. A customer service representative told IBAB that an update is in the works to resolve the issue. Until then, users who are bothered by the sound can reset the phone to factory settings.
