MusicIt looks like ABBA is planning to release a number of new songs this year. Bjorn Ulvaeus revealed on Saturday that the Swedish band had recently entered the studio to record new material.
“There will be new music this year, that’s for sure,” Bjorn said in an interview with The Herald Sun. The question is not whether that will happen or not. “
It is the first time in forty years that Bjorn Olvaeus, Benny Anderson, Agnitha Valtskog and Frida Lindstad have created new music. However, according to Bjorn, it feels like it’s old again. “It’s hard to describe, but the bond between us is very strong.” The quartet announced in Spring 2018 that they will be releasing five new songs. But it is expected that there will be more.
ABBA was hugely popular in the 1970s and 1980s with global hits such as “Dancing Queen”, “Mamma Mia” and “Waterloo”. With the last song, the pop group won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974. In 1983, a temporary hiatus was cut, but the group did not unite after that. Their last studio album is from 1981.
