Construction of new youth rooms at Park Grote-Schengen to start in 2022 (Deurne)

In the center of Park Groot Schijn, next to the skate park, youth associations will have their own place around the historic Master Schmid farm. The city of Antwerp mentioned this in a press release.

Youth movements such as VNJ and Scouts get more space and opportunity to develop their own performance and activities separately.

“More than ever, our youth need adequate and proper space,” says youth councilman, Jinnih Beels. “The plans were made with the youth associations themselves. The youth rooms are not only there for VNJ and Scout activities, but can also be used as relaxation and party areas.” The contractor has been appointed and work will begin in the spring of 2022.

Park Groot Schijn has already made a lot of progress. Today, the play forest, the first gymnasium and the new swimming and skiing complex Sportoase are ready. The central square is also completed with the skate park, the allotments in the southern part and a large part of the landscape and park trails. Now it’s the youth room’s turn, and the third phase of building the garden and renovating the caravan site is still in the planning stage.
