Dancer Madonna opens book: ‘She charges $100 a minute if you’re late’ | celebrities

celebritiesCarrie Ann Inaba, 55, who was one of Madonna’s backup dancers, is sharing some surprising details about her collaboration with the pop icon. During a chat with The Jennifer Hudson Show, the American dancer and choreographer revealed that Madonna, 65, was “very strict” as an employer.

For Inaba, collaborating with one of the most famous artists in the world was a dream come true. “Michael Jackson, Prince and Madonna were big names at the time. When I was part of Madonna’s tour, I thought: ‘This is all I need,’” said the 55-year-old dancer, who worked for Madonna in the 1990s. But behind the scenes, that was not the case. It’s all glitz and glamor: “Madonna was very strict. She had one strict rule. For every minute you were late, you had to pay $100 (about 95 euros, editor) from your salary.

The dancer explains that because of this rule, she is now always on time, wherever she goes. She stresses that working with stars like Madonna is so intense that many dancers cannot continue it for a long time. “As a dancer, you’re often done at 25,” says Carrie Ann Inaba.

“It’s a miracle I’m still alive”

Meanwhile, Madonna continues to conquer the stage. She is currently on her ‘Celebration Tour’ which was in Belgium last weekend. In Antwerp, the international star shared with her fans that she considered it a “miracle” that she was still alive after being hospitalized last June due to a serious bacterial infection. Madonna told her fans: “Less than four months ago I was in the hospital unconscious, and many thought that I might not be able to survive.” “The fact that I’m standing here now is a miracle. My mother, may she rest in peace, is undoubtedly watching me. She said, ‘Girl, it’s not your time yet.’ I’m very grateful to her for this. I don’t feel good right now, but I can’t complain. I am alive and I thank God for my children and for your unconditional love and support.
