On Saturday afternoon, Nicholas Klerbois, 41, came to the bakery in Waterloosesteenweg with the coin. It is richer by 480 euros. “The money I’m going to spend on a family weekend at Disneyland,” laughs the winner.

On January 6, standing in long lines, customers of De Weerdt Bakery in Sint-Gillis who were hoping to find one of two gold coins in their Epiphany cake. In the end, two thousand cakes came out that day. However, it was until Saturday – nearly ten days later – before the winner appeared at the bakery. “A man came in suddenly with a gold coin,” says convinced baker Luc de Werdt (59). “However, he was shocked when I told him he had received €480. He thought the coin was worth €200 ‘only’, just like the past two years.”
