The highest bid for a seat on the Blue Origin spaceflight is $ 2.4 million, but bidding is still possible Science

Blue Origin, the space company of billionaire Jeff Bezos, wants to bring tourists into space for the first time on July 20 and reach an altitude of more than 100 kilometers above the Earth’s crust. The Blue Origin Crew capsule has space for six, paying travelers. Interested parties can bid for a seat. The highest bid is currently $ 2.4 million (just under € 2 million).

During the first round of bidding, more than 5,200 people from 136 countries bid for a seat aboard a Blue Origin Crew Capsule, with a top bidder of $ 2.4 million ($ 1.96 million), according to Blue Made Origin today.

Candidates will now be able to bid more in the second round – which runs until June 10. The second round started with an offer of $ 1.4 million (€ 1.15 million). Blue Origin will announce the winner on June 12th.

Blue Origin wants to take tourists into space at the Blue Origin Crew capsule on July 20. The New Shepard launch vehicle will take off vertically and expand its capsule to an altitude of 75 km. Then it ascends to an altitude of more than 100 km. There are weightless passengers for a few minutes and see the curvature of the Earth. However, the craft is neither traveling high nor fast enough to orbit the Earth.

While the occupants are having fun, the pitcher returns to the ground vertically. After that, the capsule also returns. After being braked by three large parachutes and brake missiles, she had to land in the West Texas desert. The eighteen-meter missile successfully passed fifteen tests, but was not put into service at all.
