Israeli missile strikes near the Syrian capital Damascus killed three people. And the Syrian State Agency, Sana’a, said this morning, quoting military sources, that four were wounded.
“The Israeli enemy carried out an attack in which three martyrs were killed and material damage was caused,” the news agency said. The rockets were said to have been launched from the Golan Heights, which were annexed by Israel.
The Syrian news agency had reported earlier that the air defenses had intercepted the Israeli missiles.
Israel launches missile attacks on Syrian territory on a regular basis. A similar attack had claimed the lives of five soldiers on May 14. Nine people were killed on 27 April.
Israeli attacks have long targeted positions of the Syrian army, Iranian forces, and Lebanese Hezbollah. Israel hardly comments on the military operations in the neighboring country. The state stresses that it does not accept any further expansion of Iranian influence in Syria.
