In the Tour de France, there is a dangerous cobbled stage in the first week. So tour winner Tadej Pojjakar decided earlier to add the Tour of Flanders to his schedule next spring.

It will not be the only cobbled race for the young Slovenian. Today it was confirmed that he will also start at Dwars Door Vlaanderen. The semi-classic version 76 will be completed three days before the Ronde race.

Organizer Jay Delici is delighted to share the winner of the tour. “We are very happy to welcome another Tour winner to our race. That was a long time ago.”

The list of seven in the Emirates team includes the names of Mathieu Trentin, Mark Hershey, Fernando Gaviria and Pascal Ackermann.

The competition will be a little tougher than in other years. The number of cobblestone strips will be increased from three to five. “The Den Doorn in Oudenaarde in particular is in very poor condition.”

“By the way, this is not the first time riders of the Tour have come to test with us. Alejandro Valverde and Nairo Quintana have already started at the start of Dwars Door Vlaanderen. And this is with the same goal as Tadej Pogacar: experiencing the cobblestone feel.”
