Anne van den Broek He has a very good reason to participate in All in Combat. Not long ago, she herself developed breast cancer.
She has now been declared cured, but is still undergoing hormonal treatment. She notices every day that cancer has had a serious effect on her body. This means that she gets tired much faster than before, and she always has to expend her energy.
In “It's All in the Struggle” you can see how Anne and the other women have a conversation with breast cancer specialist Weprin Tajalma. He confronts her with the difficult truth.
“After treatment, you won't go back to where you were,” he says. “You have to adjust your lifestyle a little bit because you can't do everything. You have to step back a little bit.”
He tries to comfort Anne with the idea that a happy, healthy life is still entirely possible, but his message clearly affects her. “That was surprising news, but I think it's important to continue to have the courage to keep working on your body,” she replied.
She wants to give something important to all her fellow patients. It sounds like this: “Don't give up right away, and don't give up right away to the fact that it won't go any further.”
