Back on board!

It starts to get light around 5:00 am. I was already awake. It’s still strange, suddenly being on the other side of the world. Karma was in good shape. Then over the water. Under water it is fruits de mer. So mussels and other animals.

The propeller still turns, but with almost no thrust. With the help of Brian (the harbor master) and his boat, we pushed the Karma to the Riverside Drive Marina. Familiar home in coming weeks.

Karma looks like Cinderclaus’s parcel boat.

All the packages I sent and ordered have arrived and are now on board. Karma looks like Cinderclaus’s parcel boat. How it works is special. Open the boxes and don’t know what’s inside.

During the day it works. The first days were full of failures. I know that now. Fortunately, the toilet flushes. This time the water pump failed. Will sort it out sometime.

Anchor Locker looks neat. Sandblasted and epoxy. The side effect is that everything inside the boat is covered in greasy dust. So clean up. Vacuuming does not work. No work to eat. Slimming down is the way to go.

The results so far are satisfactory. Tomorrow is another day.

Oooh, it’s so good to be back on board and on the water. As I write that, I miss my children and Liane. Beautiful things don’t have to be easy.

spring

Spring in New Zealand. Today the weather is perfect for it. Sun, good wind, good sailing weather.

on board

Not that I’m going on a boat, it’s too soon. A lot of work was done today. It is totally unnecessary to list them all here, otherwise my message would be a few pages long.

Off to Auckland tomorrow with a rental car. Bringing the liferaft for inspection, a new Karmadje, Karmadje 3. A small rubber boat for landing and returning from anchorage.
