Exclusive new Google apps for Wear OS 3 smartwatches

Thanks to the partnership between Samsung and Google, the future of Wear OS doesn’t look quite as bleak as it once was. But not everyone can be happy, as Google has announced that two of its new apps will be available exclusively for Wear OS 3 smartwatches.

As for the new YouTube Music and Google Maps, Google has now confirmed that they are exclusive to smartwatches running the latest version of the operating system. The new Maps app is a visual overhaul of the original app and many features, such as step-by-step instructions, have remained the same compared to the older version. On the other hand, YouTube Music is a completely new version that debuted on Samsung’s new Wear OS watches. The app allows YouTube Music subscribers in the paid version to browse their library and download music from the watch for offline playback. There is also a Smart Downloads feature that automatically updates your offline library while the watch is charging.

YouTube Music Premium subscribers can access more than 80 million songs and thousands of playlists in the new YouTube Music app on Wear OS. This standalone app is the first YouTube Music smartwatch app that allows YouTube Music Premium subscribers to download music for offline listening without advertising, even without your phone near you. The app also has a Smart Downloads feature that updates the songs you’ve downloaded to your watch when it’s charged and connected to Wi-Fi. You can also use custom playlists to get the perfect soundtrack whatever you do.

In addition to the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 models, mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 It got the upgrade to Wear OS 3, although that won’t happen until 2022.
