She is an obvious resident of Dereliki and a “full-time crazy person.” Jordi and Else, the famous Jonas van Geel characters, are ready to move on from the highest levels. After making VTM’s social media unsafe last year, they are now getting their own TV show. In “The Best of 2023,” the duo – along with three other characters – will weigh in on the biggest moments of the past year, crowning their main bird each week.
Yes! The Geordie’s back, darling. After Jonas van Geel’s character made Ibiza unsafe during the summer months, he can now work at peak times. With Els, he offers his honest opinion — laced with a touch of humor — about the biggest moments of the past TV year in “The Best of 2023.” The duo is helped in this by Antwerp fashion designer Dominique and friends Nora and Deborah. “Every week there is a different underlying theme,” explains translator Jonas van Geel. “We look – among other things – at the best TV moment of the year, and find out who is the luckiest. These winners will then receive a trophy from Geordie and Else. You can compare the design a little with the British ‘Gogglebox’, where the duo are stuck – albeit real “On news facts. I do everything myself. Believe me: recordings are very lonely. (Laughs)”

He considers it a great honor for Van Geel to follow in the footsteps of “Typical Chris” – in which Chris van den Doorpel played different characters. He created something that Flanders had not yet known, and it had a lasting impact. When viewers now make the connection between Chris and Jonas, I’m especially humbled. And I’m glad, because that’s a very nice compliment. From VTM, it is a vote of confidence that I can deliver such a programme.
Renaissance TV
And while his VTM teammates have been all over the place in recent months, that doesn’t seem to be the case with Jonas. It’s a conscious choice, Van Geel explains. “In recent months, I played in Red Star Line and Les Misérables, recorded the VTM GO short film “Jordy doet Ibiza” and presented “I Can See Your Voice”. I did not sit still, but I was seen on TV less and less. In addition, she also expressed to VTM I’d like to focus more on comedy. But it’s not the kind you can start right away. Now that there’s enough material, I’m looking forward to my TV renaissance. It might become something more. Or as Jordi says: rakketaktaktak (He laughs)”
