Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson settle banker case | Property

PropertyPrince Andrew, 63, and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, 64, have reached a settlement in a lawsuit surrounding a banker suspected of embezzling large sums of money. This was reported by The Telegraph newspaper. The Duke of York and his family became involved in the case because they received a lot of money from the banker accused of stealing £40 million.

During the High Court hearing, it became clear that the Duke and Duchess of York had reached a settlement with the Turkish woman from whom the money was stolen, called Nebahat Evyap Espelin. Andrew’s family is said to have received a total of around £1.4 million (€1.6 million) from Salman Türk, a former Goldman Sachs banker. But they did not know that Turk was the one who stole that money from Espilin.

The money was transferred in various parts to Andrew and his associates. For example, £750,000 was transferred to the Prince to help someone obtain a passport. However, Andrew has already repaid this amount in 2021. So, not all of the money initially transferred is still with the family. Furthermore, The Telegraph wrote about a series of payments to Andrew and Sarah Ferguson and Princess Eugenie.

Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are not accused of any wrongdoing. This also applies to their daughters Beatrice and Eugenie, who had no knowledge of their parents’ dealings with Turk. Questions were only asked about Andrew and his advisors: Did they know there was a connection with Turk? Why exactly did they need all this money?

However, the former banker denies that he received the money unfairly. He said that the woman herself would have decided to give the money to Prince Andrew. Details of the settlement are unknown.
