The developer of The Last of Us Naughty Dog is looking for new employees for an independent multiplayer project. Vineet Agarwal, co-director of The Last of Us: Part 2, announced on Twitter. “We’re actively looking for people – let us know if you’d like to help create a cinematic experience among players in our new indie multiplayer game.” He added an explanation stating what the studio is looking for.
Almost nothing is known about the multiplayer project, but it is likely that it will be a multiplayer mode for The Last of Us: Part 2. Prior to the release, Naughty Dog had already indicated that the multiplayer mode in the game would not appear until after the release – it may be converted Now to a standalone game. It is not clear if it is still associated with the famous franchise.
It’s the first time that Naughty Dog – known for games like The Last of Us, Uncharted and Jak & Daxter – has come with a game all about multiplayer. Some of the developer’s games already have multiplayer modes.
Earlier this month, Youtuber Speclizer found various items in The Last of Us 2 files indicating that multiplayer was once part of the game. He found, among other things, a large map with Adler Park, Port of Camallito and Camallito. Speclizer predicted that the size of the map would make special sense in the battle royale mode.
