Danone wants to eliminate about 120 office jobs in Belgium by the end of 2022. This makes the French food giant known. The company has around 1800 employees in our country.
At the end of last year, it was already clear that jobs were in danger of being laid off. Danone then announced that as many as 2,000 management positions would disappear worldwide. The Belgian influence is now also known.
“The proposed change to the business model, as presented to Danone’s local social partners in Belgium, implies an organizational shift that could affect approximately 120 office jobs in Belgium by the end of 2022,” a press release said. Worldwide, Danone wants to eliminate about 1,850 jobs. The company has more than 100,000 employees.
Danone is active in Belgium with its subsidiaries Alpro, Danone dairy and Vegetable, Danone Waters and Nutricia. For example, there are production facilities in Rotselaar and Wevelgem. Together it employs around 1,800 people.
The company also reported that as part of the transformation plan, Alpro will be further merged with Danone. Alpro, known for its vegan soybean-based dairy initiatives, became part of Danone in 2017 after the acquisition of its American parent company, WhiteWave Foods.
The French company adds that it is confirming the “key role” of the sites in Rötselar and Vilgem. “The workers at the production sites were not affected.”
