The organization of the most important American Music Awards ceremony confirmed to American media, on Monday, that the Canadian rapper and singer is no longer in the process of being nominated for the prestigious awards.
His name is no longer on the website with the Grammy Award nominees on Monday. It was not clear why his nominations were withdrawn.
Drake, who already has four Grammy Awards to his name, was nominated for Best Rap Album with “Certified Lover Boy” and Best Rap Performance with “Way 2 Sexy”. According to sources from the Associated Press, they were removed from the list at the request of the Drake management.
The 35-year-old Drake has often criticized the organization of the Grammys. He was upset that he was not nominated outside of the rap categories. He was also criticized last year for not receiving a single nomination for fellow countryman The Weeknd, while also having a massive hit with Blinding Lights. He also refused to perform at the ceremony.
The 64th Grammy Awards will be presented on January 31 in Los Angeles.
